Melissa Beattie Biography

Melissa Beattie, Miami Beach Commission Group III candidate, has lived in Miami Beach for almost two decades and has been a resident of the Venetian Islands for the last 16 years. She and her husband, Scott (a businessman who built a global cosmetic company headquartered in Miami and New York for over 25 years), have three school-aged children, and two dogs.
Melissa Beattie is the president of the 350-home Venetian Island Homeowners Association. She has improved membership through increased communication and community involvement, a more proactive board, and a more significant web presence. Recognizing Beattie’s talent, members of the homeowner’s association have urged her to get more involved in City affairs.
As president, Beattie works to improve all the residents’ quality of life through several initiatives. Current priorities include power and communication undergrounding, road improvements, and infrastructure planning with Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami Beach.
Melissa Beattie has a Business Administration degree from the prestigious John Molson School of Business in Montreal, Canada. Beattie has used her educational skills working in product development, accounting, marketing, hospitality, healthcare, and the toy industry. In all her experiences, she has been proactive in driving timely effective solutions.
Melissa Beattie has worked with non-profits, as well as volunteering at a Children’s hospital hematology and oncology departments. Beattie has been active in schools, advocating for teachers and more decisive leadership from the administration.
Melissa and her husband are supporters of Mount Sinai Hospital, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Feed America, Kristi House, and several educational institutions.
Melissa relaxes through health and fitness, art, reading, writing, and especially any outdoor activities with her family.
